Illegal TV Channel Turned Down By PEMRA

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Sep, 2018 ) :Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Tuesday taking action against illegal television (TV) channel registered First Information Report (FIR) to turn it down in Faisal Town Police Station Lahore.

According to PEMRA notification, the FIR was filed by Deputy General Manager PEMRA maintaining in the report that Malik Muhammad Yamin Awan was broadcasting illegal tv channel from a residential building in Faisal Town, Lahore with different Names of GTV, Sabz Baat, Great which was violation of PEMRA Ordinance article 19.

It is pertinent to mention that Awan was frequently issued notices by the Authority, however his company never replied.

His channel was also involved in publicizing foreign content and the company was operating with various names.

It tried to evade the Authority by uplinking from different locations, the notice added.

PEMRA has written a letter to PAKSAT reminding it that the company's broadcast is illegal and should suspend its uplinking with immediate effect.

The Authority has also cancelled Mohammad Yamin Awan's Cable TV licence for violating PEMRA laws.
