LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2018 ) :-An appellate tribunal of the Lahore High Court on Monday set aside returning officer's decision of rejecting Imran Khan nomination papers from NA-95 and allowed him to contest from the constituency.
The tribunal comprising Justice Faisal Zaman Khan passed the orders while accepting an appeal filed by Imran Khan against rejection of his nomination papers for NA-95.
During the hearing, Imran's counsel Babar Awan submitted that the returning officer rejected nomination papers of his client on the ground that the affidavit was not submitted on time and the worth of all of his assets was not mentioned.
Questioning the returning officer decision, Awan contended that Imran Khan declared all his assets but the returning officer rejected his nomination papers on technical grounds.
He pleaded with the tribunal to set aside the returning officer's decision and allow Imran Khan to contest election from NA-95.
However, respondents' counsel opposed the plea saying that Imran's affidavit was not attested by the oath commissioner and his signatures were different on every page.
The tribunal after hearing detailed arguments of the parties reserved its verdict which was announced shortly afterwards. The tribunal setting aside the returning officer's decision allowed Imran Khan to contest from NA-95.
