Imran Khan To End Political Censorship Of PTV: Fawad Chaudhry

Clear instructions have been issued for complete editorial independence of PTV and Radio Pakistan
Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 21st August, 2018) Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to lift political censorship from state-run Pakistan Television (PTV).
This was shared by Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry in a tweet on Tuesday.
He said that clear instructions have been issued for complete editorial independence of ptv and Radio Pakistan, adding that drastic changes will be visible in the Information Department in the next three months.
“As per vision of @ImranKhanPTI Ended political censorship on PTV, clear instructions issued for a complete editorial independence on PTV and Radio Pakistan, drastic changes ll be visible in Information Dept in coming 3 months Inshallah” he wrote.
After taking his oath on Monday, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had vowed to build country's positive image through active participation of the media in removing the misperceptions about Pakistan.
He said the professional working of the official media, including the Associated Press of Pakistan, Radio Pakistan and PTV would be improved and made more independent, with no political interference, on the pattern of foreign media.
He added that their Boards would also be made more powerful, besides revamping of their service structure.
Regarding PTV, he said it would be upgraded to be at par with the international news channels like BBC.
