In another blow, PayPal refuses to come to Pakistan

The decision was set to pave the way for online businesses in Pakistan but PayPal has declined to come to Pakistan.

Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 19th May, 2019) The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had decided to introduce PayPal in the country.

The decision was set to pave the way for online businesses in Pakistan but in another blow, PayPal has declined to come to Pakistan.

Stressing on the need of an online payments system to promote IT sector, former Minister of Finance Asad Umar stated that he was ready to catch the next flight to meet Paypal CEO and convince him to come to Pakistan.

But like many other promises, this one also did not materialize.

The Secretary of Ministry of Information Technology told the Senate Standing Committee on IT that PayPal will not be introducing its services in the country.

Maroof Afzal said that PayPal did not decline because it has issues operating in Pakistan but it is their internal working due to which they are not ready to introduce services in Pakistan.

Paypal Online Transaction is not available directly in Pakistan, making it one of the 30 countries where the service is not available.
