ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Oct, 2016 ) : Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control A Rehman Malik Wednesday said India was consistently showing stubborn attitude instead of implementing the resolutions passed by United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in occupied Kashmir.
Contrary to giving people of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) their legitimate right to self-determination, he said, India was forcing them to leave the valley to settle non-Kashmiris under a well-thought out plan.
Talking to APP, Rehman Malik, who is also a member of Senate body on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, said the recent spate of torture and massive human rights violations in occupied Kashmir by brutal Indian forces were aimed at terrifying Kashmiris and expelling them from their motherland.
He said India was claiming occupied Kashmir as its integral part to hoodwink international community and put the Kashmir issue on back burner. A Rehman Malik regretted that international community was not playing its due role to stop India from committing human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.
He said he had written a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon reminding the world body's obligation in giving people of Kashmir their right to self-determination as per its resolutions.
Answering a question, A Rehman Malik said people of Kashmir were being detained without any justification under black laws.
He said Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik was subjected to severe torture and given a wrong injection that deteriorated his health. He said people of Kashmir, who were struggling to get freedom of Indian yoke, were being portrayed as terrorists at international level, adding illegal weapons were being used against innocent people in occupied Kashmir.
Rehman Malik also expressed concern over Indian aggression, unprovoked firing across the Line of Control and at different sectors of the working boundary. He urged the international community to play its due role in resolving the longstanding Kashmir issue and immediately stopping India from committing human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.
He said lasting peace and prosperity in the South Asian region could not be achieved without resolving the Kashmir issue as per wishes of its people. APP/ma/aa/ff
