India Wants To Divert World Attention From Kashmir: Asif

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Sep, 2016 ) : Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif Friday said India wanted to divert world attention from Kashmir issue by creating undue tension between two nuclear rivals - India and Pakistan.
Talking to a private news channel, he said the independence movement in Kashmir had intensified after the martyrdom of freedom fighter Burhan Wani. He said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif vigorously pleaded the case of Kashmir at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
He said the Prime Minister portrayed the real picture of Indian atrocities in IHK before the world leaders in his UNGA's address. The Prime Minister held meetings with leaders of various countries including United States, China, United Kingdom and Iran to support the Pakistan's stance over Kashmir issue and its resolution, he said.
The minister said that India was levelling baseless allegations against Pakistan for the attack at its military base in Uri without providing any evidence.
Khawaja Asif said freedom movement in Kashmir was gaining momentum with every passing day even after the martyrdom of more than hundred people during the protests triggered by Wani's martyrdom.
He said if India initiated any aggression, Pakistan was ready and fully capable to thwart any such attempt. The minister said India had been causing loss to residents of Pakistan at the border areas by targeting animals and infrastructure resulting people to migrate.
He said that the Prime Minister had adopted appeasement policy towards neighboring countries including India and Afghanistan and always wanted good relations with them. He said although India had been an enemy of Pakistan for a long time but Pakistan always wanted better relations with it.
He said Pakistan was a peace loving country it considered durable peace in the region for achieving sustainable development goals. Pakistan would soon become number one contributor to United Nations peace keeping missions, he added.
