'Int'l Partners Cooperation With Health Deptt A Proof Of Confidence'

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 09th Mar, 2017 ) : Punjab Minister for Primary & Secondary Health Kh. Imran Nazir has said that close cooperation of international partners with the Punjab Health Department is the proof of confidence by the international community on the system of Punjab government.
He said that development and reforms have been introduced in health sector in Punjab at all level which had improved the health facilities and mother & child health indicators. He stated this while talking to the delegation of department for International Development, UK, in his office, here om Wednesday.
The Minister briefed the foreign delegation which was headed by Chris Thoid about the healthcare system in Punjab. Kh. Imran Nazir said that primary & secondary health was taking special initiatives for improving the malnourished children for this purpose the treatment centers were being enhanced from 700 to 1200.
During the meeting, the performance of different projects funded by DFID were evaluated. The DFID delegation expressed their satisfaction over the accurate use of their support and assured to continue their financial support to the health sector in Punjab.
Kh. Imran Nazir briefed the delegation that revamping of 40 districts and tehsil headquarter hospitals was underway. Moreover, CT scan machines were also being provided in all DHQ hospitals in Punjab, he said and added that rural ambulance service had been introduced in Punjab for improving health indicators and controlling maternal mortality rate.
He said that 250 ambulances had been inducted in the system for shifting pregnant women from their home to the health center as and when required. The Minister further said that number of 24/7 BHUs is also being enhanced from 800 to 1100 where 24 hours labour room facility was available.
Kh. Imran Nazir assured that DFID financial support would be spent on the health development projects in a transparent manner. On this occasion, Director Integrated, Reproductive, Mother and New Born Child Health Programme (IRMNCH) Dr. Akhtar Rasheed Malik and other officers were present in the meeting.
