ISLAMABAD (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th March, 2019) Justice Azmat Saeed has remarked Sindh government looks helpless in the matter of forests.He further remarked is Sindh government satisfied over its performance.
Has any tree been left in the country or all have been chopped. Sindh government should chop all the trees once.He gave these remarks while presiding over a 3-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) during the course of hearing of forest chopping case here Wednesday.Secretary forest Sindh told the SC that lease of 52000 acres land has been cancelled.
The illegal possession of 145000 acres land has been got abolished and illegal allotment of 78000 acres land has been got terminated.
Overall 272000 acres land has been retrieved. The trees are being planted on the land which has been recovered.Justice Faisal Arab remarked Sindh government should tell what steps are being taken by it for protection of forests.
Forest departments has taken what steps for planting saplings on its own. After leasing out land it is said steps are being taken for conservation of forests.Chief conservative forests told the court provincial cabinet is giving approval in the matter of leasing out land.The court while directing to file progress report on this matter within six weeks adjourned the hearing of the case.
