Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday observed that narcotics and liquor were being sold openly in the federal capital and directed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Sultan Azam Temuri to submit a comprehensive report on the issue within 15 days.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2018 ) :Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday observed that narcotics and liquor were being sold openly in the federal capital and directed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Sultan Azam Temuri to submit a comprehensive report on the issue within 15 days.

Hearing a case related to significant increase in crime ratio in the capital, Justice Siddiqui said Islamabad had become the hub of crimes such as drugs, liquor and prostitution. He observed that the sale points of narcotics and sheesha were operating in Kohsar Market.

About 90 percent police officers were involved in corruption and even lady police personnel were not safe in the department, he added. He asked the IGP, who was present in the court room, as to what actions had been taken against prostitution houses and liquor sale points by the capital police.

The police, he observed, had failed to demonstrate its responsibility. Justice Siddiqui asked IGP to identify all the influential persons, who were addicted to drugs and liquor. The IGP assured the court that he would not leave any stone unturned to clean the capital's police department even at the cost of his job.

He stated that registration of a first information report (FIR) against the IHC's registrar was a mistake.
