Islamabad High Court dismisses request of PMLN's MNA seeking stay on re-polling in NA-91

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) dismissed the request of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN)'s member National Assembly (NA) seeking stay on re-polling at 20 polling stations of NA-91, Sargodha

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Jan, 2019 ) :The Islamabad High Court (IHC) dismissed the request of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN)'s member National Assembly (NA) seeking stay on re-polling at 20 polling stations of NA-91, Sargodha.

However, the IHC barred the ECP from issuing the polling results till it decides the main petition.

Justice Aamer Farooq of IHC conducted hearing on a petition filed by PMLN's MNA against the decision of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

During hearing, Justice Farooq remarked that the court was viewing the orders of ECP for re-polling in above constituency. The bench could also turn down the decision of ECP in this regard, he further said.

The judge asked that under which powers, the ECP issued orders for re-election in NA-91.

At this, the ECP representative informed the bench that theelectoral body had issued this order under Section-9.

The court, however, adjourned the case till February 15.
