A Divisional Bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday reserved verdict on maintainability of a petition challenging appointment of Shehbaz Sharif as Chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC)
A divisional bench of IHC comprising Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Mohshin Akhter Kiyani conducted hearing of the petition, filed by Riaz Hanif Rahi through GA Chaudhry Advocate.
The petitioner said in his plea that Shehbaz Sharif who is also opposition leader in the National Assembly, was not eligible for the post of PAC chairman.
He said issuance of his production orders were also against the rules of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). He prayed the court to declare appointment against the key post as null and void.
He argued that it would influence the inquiries against his party's corruption scams.
During hearing, Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that the decision onmaintainability of the case would be announced on Monday (Jan 21) and adjournedhearing of the case.
