ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2018 ) :The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday rejected the written apology submitted by anchorperson Matti Ullah Jan and others in contempt of court proceedings with the directive to resubmit a properly worded one.
Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui heard the contempt of court proceedings against Mati Ullah Jan, owner of Waqt tv channel Rameeza Majeed Nizami, its bureau chief and producers of the programme "Apna Apna Gareban".
When the respondents submitted their written apology before the court, Justice Siddiqui observed that the word "un-conditional" used in the apology was objectionable. Addressing Sardar Hamid, counsel for the respondents, he said it was not an unconditional apology.
Stop making fun of courts. Why did not the court ban live talk-shows, where things were aired without any proof, he added. Sardar Hamid realized the mistake and assured the court that his clients would obey the orders and sought more time for re-submission of apology with proper words.
The court gave the respondents another opportunity for submission of a properly worded apology and adjourned the case till February 21 (Wednesday). It may be added that Justice Siddiqui had taken notice of a programme aired on February 5 in which anchorperson Mati Ullah Jan had prima facia discussed the name of an IHC judge repeatedly with mala fide intention.
