Islamabad Police Conduct 246 Search Operations In 2016

ISLAMABAD, Jan 5 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 05th Jan, 2017 ) : Islamabad police along with Rangers conducted 246 search operations in various areas of the city to maintain vigilance against mischievous elements, a police source said.
Following National Action Plan, he said Islamabad Police did conduct 246 search operation in 2016 while 726 persons, having illegal weapons, were held besides recovery of 72 Kalashnikovs, 62 guns/carbines, 616 pistols/revolvers and 14400 rounds.
Following the directions of Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan, he said SSP Islamabad Sajid Kiani prepared a special plan of searching and combing in the city. According to this plan formally approved by IGP Islamabad Tariq Masood Yasin, search operations were conducted in various areas of the city including slum areas, inns, hotels, workshops, markets, under-construction buildings, restaurants and Afghan habitats.
Police including lady Commandos, women police also participated in this search operation and huge cache of weapons were also recovered during besides arrest of hundreds of suspects. SSP (Operations) Sajid Kiani said these measures were taken to ensure foolproof security and keep vigilant eye on the suspected elements.
He said that Afghan cards of nabbed suspects were verified and their mobile phones record was obtained. He said Islamabad police have set up a cell with latest technology to trace the links of such suspects with criminal elements, dacoits or car lifters if any.
Such search operations would continue in coming days and complete combing would be made of sensitive areas, the spokesman maintained. In addition, police source said that a total of 629 accused of narcotics smuggling were held and 232 kilogram hashish, 36 kilogram heroin, two kilogram opium and 55014 wine bottles were recovered from them.
SSP Islamabad said that directions have been issued for effective policing measures and high vigilance in the city. He said the purpose of these search operations and high vigilance was to ensure foolproof security in the city, He further directed all SHOs to continue it.
He has appreciated all those who joined these search operations and appealed the citizens to remain vigilant and inform police in case of any suspicious activity around them. APP/muk/aa/mub
