ISLAMABAD- (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News- 21st March, 2019) Pakistan on Wednesday summoned the Indian High Commissioner at Foreign Office and lodged a strong protest over the acquittal of all four accused in Samjhuta Express case.
An Indian court had acquitted of all four accused, including Swami Aseemanand in the Samjhuta terror attacks.
The Acting Foreign Secretary summoned the Indian High Commission, and according to media reports, he was conveyed Pakistan’s concerns over the decision. Over 44 innocent Pakistanis had lost their lives in the attack by Hindu Terrorists several years ago. Islamabad highlighted the case on different platforms over the years.
A statement issued by the Foreign Office said that the acquittal of the accused made a travesty of justice and exposed the credibility of the Indian Courts.
“It also belies the rampant Indian duplicity and hypocrisy where India reflexively levels allegations of terrorism against Pakistan, while protecting with impunity, terrorists who had publicly confessed to their odious crimes," the Foreign Office said.
It was emphasized that that the systemic Indian decision to gradually exonerate and finally acquit the perpetrators, was not only a gross reflection of India’s callous insensitivity to the plight of the 44 families of the deceased Pakistanis, who hoped that India would but also reflective of the Indian state policy of promoting and protecting Hindu terrorists.
