
ITP Issues Traffic Plan For 24th Muharram Procession

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jul, 2025) Traffic Police (ITP) on Sunday issued a comprehensive traffic plan for the 24th Muharram al Haram procession, which will commence from Haidri Shah’s residence, pass through Madni Road and Express Highway, and culminate at the Sain Boota Darbar Imambargah.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (R) Zeeshan Haider told APP that the mourning procession would begin from the house of Haidri Shah and proceed via Madni Road and the kacha track of the Express Highway before concluding at the Sain Boota Darbar Imambargah.
He said that during the procession, Express Highway and Khanna Service Road would remain closed for all types of traffic. He advised citizens to use alternative routes including Murree Road, Park Road, and Lehtrar Road to avoid inconvenience.
He said that the service road from Faizabad to Rawalpindi via Express Highway would also be closed, and commuters were directed to use Kuri Road, Airport Road, and Khanna-Lehtrar Road as alternative routes.
CTO Zeeshan urged citizens to cooperate with traffic police officials and avoid unnecessary travel near the procession route. He also appealed to the public to refrain from illegal parking and ensure vehicles are parked only in the designated parking spaces.
CTO emphasized that cooperation with traffic personnel is essential to maintaining smooth flow and ensuring public safety during the religious event.
