It's terrible joke opposition is talking of resolving people's problems: Firdous

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2019 ) :Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Sunday said it was a terrible joke with the nation that those who had pushed the country in the quagmire of problems, were now talking of addressing the issues.

All the opposition political parties were being outmanoeuvred by only two persons to save their corruption, which they had committed while in government, she said in a statement.

Firdous said the leadership of both the Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz were responsible for sending each other to jails, met at an Iftar dinner to formulate a strategy for an NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance).

She said when there was any threat to the personal interests of opposition leaders, they started hyping that the democracy was in danger. Was it a democratic act to talk of toppling an elected government by the so-called proponents of democracy, she asked.

She said instead of tendering an apology to the nation, the opposition leaders were only keen to save their assets.

She said the presence of Jamiat-e-Ulma Islam-Fazl's chief Maulana Fazl Rehman in the dinner, who was rejected by the people in the previous general election, was the proof of the hollowness of gathering. The contract given to the Maulna for holding an all parties conference would deem to fail like vanishing of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal which was also led by him, she added.

Meanwhile, talking to a news channel, Dr Firdous said Prime Minister Imran Khan had ended the dynastic rule of both the PML-N and the PPP.

The two parties leadership remained indulged in corrupt practices while in power and that was why the people would not support their any anti-government move, she added.

She said all those who had attended the Iftar party, were known by the people for their corruption, she said..
