Jaica Delegation Visits Waste Water Treatment Plant

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 05th Jan, 2018 ) :A delegation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jaica) visited Punjab's only large scale waste water treatment plant at Suraj Miani in Multan on Friday.
Managing Director Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) Multan Rao Qasim and other officials were present during the visit of delegation led by Dr. Satu, says an official release. The MD Wasa informed the delegation that state-of-the-art waste water treatment plant was the only large scale plant in Punjab that has the capacity to treat 33 per cent sewerage water of the city.
It was spread on 187 acre area at Suraj Miani and connected to an 11 kilometre long sludge carrier. He said that the it was completed as part of Southern Punjab Basic Urban Services Project with the funding from Asian Development Bank.
Rao Qasim said the construction of the waste water channel approaching the treatment plant and upgradation of Suraj Miani disposal station was in progress with the funding from Punjab government.
He disclosed that recommendations had been sent to the Punjab government for establishment of another waste water treatment plant on the southern side of the city to treat the remaining 66 per cent of waste water.
The whole sewerage water of the city would go into the river after treatment instead of the canals once the project is approved and completed, the MD Wasa said. The delegation visited different parts of the treatment plant and analyzed the clean water through sun rays and declared the performance of treatment plant as good, the release concluded.
