Journalist tells why PMLN played song in Raheel Sharif’s favor

Gen (r) Raheel Sharif’s name taken along Nawaz Sharif’s in song played during NA-122 by-election campaign

Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 24th May, 2018) Renowned tv anchor Kashif Abbasi while talking on a program has said that a national song was played in the election campaign started by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) after the 2014 sit-in, particularly for NA-122 by-election, in which former army chief Gen (r) Raheel Sharif’s name was taken along Nawaz Sharif.

Abbasi asked Muslim League-Zia leader Ijaz-ul-Haq present on the program about the matter, adding either the PMLN leadership was not aware of it and somebody played the song themselves of there is some other story?

To this, Ijaz-il-Haq said that this happened when Operation Zarb-e-Azb was launched against terrorists and there was confusion among people as to who launched this operation. So this is a song of that time when Nawaz Sharif and Raheel Sharif’s Names were taken together.

“This song was made to give an impression that the government is also behind launching Operation Zarb-e-Azb. They had to give and take credit so the song was produced for the purpose. Moreover, the political parties in Pakistan try to give an impression that they are in union with the establishment. The song played at the PMLN’s public meetings was also made to give this impression,” Haq said.

The NA-122 by-election was held after the election tribunal rejected the 2013 election in the constituency after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf challenged it. PMLN’s Sardar Ayaz Sadiq won the election again and the song was played for this election’s campaign.
