ISLAMABAD, Jan 6 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th Jan, 2017 ) : Justice Athar Minallah detached himself from hearing a plea challenging Election Commission of Pakistan's decision for declaring void election of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's candidate of Khushab District, Sumaira Malik elected as chairperson of the Council.
Justice of Islamabad High Court (IHC) sent back the case to the Chief Justice to constitute a new bench when an application was moved by the Ahmed Raza Kasuri counsel for the Malik Amir Haider Sangha.
It is pertinent to mention here that the ECP on Dec 28 had annulled the election of Ms.
Malik as chairperson of the council by a majority vote of three to one on the basis of allegation of a voter flaunting his ballot paper at the time of polling.
Ms. Malik subsequently approached IHC against the ECP decision and after hearing the preliminary argument the court suspended the decision for two days but now the case took new turn when an application moved by the respondent showing no confidence on bench. APP/nhk/kmd 18:48/19:11/19:11
