Kabul Recalls Ambassador Over Pakistani Prime Minister's Remarks On Afghan Government

Kabul recalled its ambassador to Pakistan for consultations following the recent "irresponsible remarks" of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan regarding Afghanistan's government, the Afghan Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday
On Monday, Khan said that the Afghan government was creating obstacles to peace talks with the Taliban movement and suggested Kabul should set up an interim government to break the deadlock in negotiations.
"Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its grave objection on Pakistani PM's recent reckless statements about the peace process and establishment of an interim government, deemed such statements an obvious example of Pakistan's interventional policy and disrespect to the national sovereignty and determination of the people of Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also recalled Afghanistan's Ambassador from Islamabad for further discussions on the matter," the ministry said in a statement.
The Afghan ministry noted that a Pakistani deputy ambassador to Kabul was also summoned with regard to the issue.
Afghanistan has long been suffering from an unstable security situation. The government has been fighting the Taliban, which has been waging a war against Kabul for almost two decades and, according to recent reports, controls about half of the country's territory, and the Islamic State terrorist group (banned in Russia), which has been operating in Afghanistan since 2015.
