MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jul, 2025) A grand seminar was held in Kail, Neelum Valley, Azad Jammu Kashmir, on Saturday to commemorate Kashmir's Accession to Pakistan Day.
The event reiterated the resolve of the Kashmiri people to continue their struggle for freedom from Indian occupation and to materialize the historic accession resolution into reality.
The seminar emphasized that Kashmir and Pakistan stand united in their quest for freedom and self-determination.
The seminar highlighted the significance of July 19, 1947, when the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference passed a historic resolution to accede to Pakistan.
This decision was rooted in the Two-Nation Theory and reflected the collective will of the Kashmiri people. Despite India's refusal to honor the standstill agreement and its subsequent occupation of Kashmir, the people's desire for accession to Pakistan remained unchanged.
The seminar emphasized that the struggle for freedom in Kashmir continues to this day.
The mass uprising of 1990 and subsequent resistance movements testify to the enduring demand for the right to self-determination. Speakers at the seminar demanded that Kashmiris be allowed to exercise their democratic right to choose between India and Pakistan, as envisioned by the UN and promised by history.
The seminar featured distinguished scholars, professors, civil society members and local populace. Dr Waleed Rasool, Director of the Institute of Dialogue, Development & Diplomatic Studies (IDDDs), emphasized the historical continuity of Kashmiri aspirations and the unbroken chain of resistance that links 1947 to the present day. Other eminent personalities echoed the demand for Kashmiris' right to self-determination.
The seminar concluded with a call to action, reiterating the resolve of the Kashmiri people to continue their struggle for freedom and accession to Pakistan.
