ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Aug, 2024) The Chairman of the Kashmir Council Europe, Ali Raza Syed, has denounced India's actions in Jammu and Kashmir as a "ploy to permanently occupy" the disputed region.
Speaking at a protest camp in Brussels on Sunday, Syed marked the fifth anniversary of India's revocation of Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Syed described the move as an "illegal maneuver" aimed at suppressing the rights of Kashmiris to self-determination. He alleged that India's actions have led to demographic changes, human rights abuses, and the suppression of political aspirations.
The protest camp, organized by the Kashmir Council Europe, drew attention to the ongoing situation in Jammu and Kashmir, where thousands of Kashmiris are reportedly detained, and many have been killed or disappeared.
Syed called on the international community to hold India accountable for its actions and to support the right of the Kashmiri people to decide their own future through a free and fair plebiscite.
