ISLAMABAD,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 07th Nov, 2017 ) :Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah Tuesday said that the approval of the bill on constitutional amendment regarding delimitation from the Council of Common Interests was essential.
Talking to the newsmen at his chamber here at Parliament House along with Pakistan Peoples Party leader Syed Naveed Qamar, the opposition leader said the PPP's only objection is for accomplishment of the process of approval from the CCI.
He said the PPP neither desires the general elections before time, nor delayed rather it wanted the polls to be held on time. He told media that the House business Advisory Committee had decided to continue the Assembly session till November 14 but the government had prorogued the session a week earlier.
The opposition leader said there was no harm in holding the general elections on the basis of previous census of 1998. To a question he said the PPP had reservations on the population of Sindh province as shown in the census, some three to four percent lesser than the exact volume of the population.
The opposition leader said the PPP has decided to submit a requisition for convening the National Assembly session. Naveed Qamar said the old delimitation was effective till the revelations of findings of the new census. He said constitutionally, fresh delimitation should be made after announcement of the results of the recent census.
