Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Constitutes Committee To Resolve Tobacco Cess, Sugarcane, NHP Issues

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Monday constituted a committee headed by the Speaker Asad Qaiser to discuss matters relating tobacco cess, sugarcane and net-hydel profit.
PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2018 ) :Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Monday constituted a committee headed by the Speaker Asad Qaiser to discuss matters relating tobacco cess, sugarcane and net-hydel profit.
The matter was raised by Abdul Karim Khan of QWP through a call attention notice. He said that 52 per cent area of District Swabi is tobacco growing, but they are not getting share in tobacco cess in proportion to the same.
He said that a meeting held with Senior Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai few months back have decided that Excise and Taxation Department was tasked the clearance of the arrears of tobacco cess and it was also decided that a total outstanding amount of Rs.458 million will be cleared.
However, so far only an amount of Rs.110 million have been cleared while amounts for the years 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 were also still pending. He requested the chair that the outstanding amount of Rs.403 million should be as soon as possible to spent them on the development of the district Swabi.
He further requested the chair to constitute a committee headed by Speaker to resolve the issue within a timeframe. Mahmood Jan of PTI on this occasion demanded the implementation of the report constituted for the prices of sugarcane. The Deputy Speaker announced the constitution of a committee headed by the Speaker Asad Qaiser to resolve the issue in a period of two weeks.
