'King Of Dry Fruits' Almond A Favourite Nut In Winter Season: Report

As chilly winter season has multiplied the consumption of dry fruit, almonds (Badam) which is often called the 'king' of dry fruits is used for many treatments are the most favorite and demanding nuts during the winter season all across the country including the province of Balochistan.
The wind turns chilly, Almond is one of the important stone fruit grown in Pakistan. It is also included in nuts according to its usage. It is very delicious with high nutritional value because of its oil contents. Almond is a high value crop and one of the most non-perishable nut fruit. When dried it can easily be kept for a year or even more. Its market demand is always high specially in the province of Balochistan, a report aired by a private news channel revealed.
In Pakistan , Baluchistan province have very good quality of dried fruits are available and people here love to eat them on almost daily basis especially in winter seasons.
Raw almonds, having high nutritional value and usage in a variety of food dishes and cuisines, are the edible fruit seeds which are one of the most widely known dry fruits around the world.
Different forms of almonds are sold such as salted, raw, blanched, shelled, unshelled.
Most of these fruits are grown in mountainous and hilly areas of Balochistan.
According to health nutrition , Almonds is good for the brain vigour, improvement of memory and concentration. It is also believed to make children sharp and active because they contain calcium, potassium, copper, and B and E Vitamins.
Almonds protect our body against respiratory disorders, and coughs in winters. Regular consumption of almonds protects against cardiovascular disease, lowers bad cholesterol, helps control diabetes, boosts energy and helps prevent gallstones. It also contains biotin that makes our skin and hair healthy in dry winters.
According to growers in Balochistan , where Almonds are cultivated in 4 different forms, farmers says that they are producing more than before and exporting the Alomnd in other neighboring countries during their cold season to get profitable business.
The main dry fruit of the country is Almonds, It is grown in mountainous region where nuts trees can be seen standing in rows, said a farmer, Sadiq Ali.
