KP Govt Accelerate Campaign Against Power Pilferers, Defaulters

The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has accelerated campaign against power pilferers and defaulters and has made a recovery of Rs.32 million from the power defaulters of the provincial metropolis.
The provincial government in joint operation along with Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO) has also taken into possession power equipment worth Rs.48 million in head of arrears.
Similarly, awareness campaign for the prevention of illegal use of electricity, installation of power meters and recovery of arrears is in full swing amongst the people through mosques.
In this connection, a meeting of the district monitoring committee to review the performance of such district committees of the Provincial Task Force formed by the KP Chief Minister for arresting illegal use of electricity was held here with Additional Secretary Energy & Power, Zafarul islam in the chair.
Besides, MPA from the provincial assembly constituency PK-72, Peshawar, Engineer Faheem Khan, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peshawar, Dr, Imran Hamid Sheikh, Superintendent Engineer (SE), PESCO Tahir Jamal, Incharge Task Force Cell, Saifullah Khan, Coordinator Malik Shuja Khan, Tariq Khan and other authorities attended the meeting.
Briefing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peshawar, Dr, Imran Hamid Sheikh said that district administration and police is fully cooperating with PESCO in operation against the illegal use of electricity in the district.
He said that so far an amount of over Rs.32 million has been recovered in City Rural, Cantonment, Peshawar Rural and Khyber Circles of the PESCO.
The meeting also discussed different proposals regarding the installation of new power meters, ABC cable and adopting of simplified procedure for the recovery of the arrears. He vowedno concession with those using illegal electricity, saying those gettingelectricity through direct connections will be dealt with iron hands.
