KP Govt introduces transparency in governance, merit based system: CM

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th Oct, 2016 ) : Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak Thursday said that his government introduced a true democratic model with full transparency in governance and merit based system in the province.

He said all decisions were being taken on merit and justice. He was talking to the British Ambassador and his team at Pakhtunkhwa House Islamabad, says an official statement here. The Chief Minister said that his government had set true democratic standards in the province adding "We pushed the goal post to its original place to convert a legitimate goal.

These standards took the critics and so called political leaders aback." He reminded that when he took over, there was total chaos in the province as there was no rule of law and people had lost hope due to law and order situation and public institutions were in total disarray.

Pervez Khattak said the education system used to be an incubator increasing the gap between rich and poor. His government started narrowing down the gap by raising the standard of education in the public sector institutions.

"This is a foundation to ensure level playing field both to rich and poor", he said. He said the shortage of teachers and missing facilities were provided to schools and a new set of reforms were introduced in education sector and the missing facilities and additional rooms and boundary walls in all schools from top to bottom would be ensured towards the end of this year.

"This is what my government and the people around think is the real revolution providing a level playing field for vertical mobility to poor and rich alike in all spheres of life." He said KP and its people suffered in the recent past because of the man-made and natural calamities and still the province was getting progress by leaps and bounds.

He said this province had advantages that his government wanted to make a base for rapid industrialization, exploitation of its natural advantages in order to provide a secured space for the unemployed and put the provincial economy on sound footings.

Pervez Khattak said that the war on terror and its repercussion for the province was yet to be over and people was still bearing the brunt, "we have yet to get out of the multifaceted challenges that included the establishment of improved peace, unemployment and efficient services.

He said provincial government was making headway and hopefully would overcome all these challenges, he added. The Chief Minister said because of the unprecedented legislations and reforms and the practical implementation on these laws, the perception of the people about the province changed and so was the case of international community.

The people's confidence restored in the public sector institutions and his government would continue to provide everything to the people through a reformed system of governance in the province, he concluded.
