
KP Govt Makes Allocation For Horticulture, Plantation Must In All Development Schemes

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Sep, 2021 ) :In order to ensure greenery and beauty of the cities, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has made specific funds allocation mandatory from the total budget of every development project for execution of horticulture work and plantation as part of it.
An official of Planning and Development Department, KP told this agency that as per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan the KP government has approved that in future one percent of the total cost of the project would be allocated for execution of horticulture work and plantation in urban areas while in rural areas the allocation would be 0.5 percent of the total cost.
He said that the Planning and Development department has directed through a notification to all the concerned departments including district development authorities, Local area authorities, local government departments and forest department to ensure the execution and completion of horticulture work and plantation within the time period of the project.
The official said that the horticulture work and plantation would be done in a way that it would not be damaged during execution phase of the development scheme or project. Similarly the plantation would be seasonally resistant and environment friendly so that sustainability feature of the same is intact in the best public interest.
He said that the initiative would permanently be added to Annual Development Plan (ADP) and no scheme would be approved until it includes horticulture work and plantation in the PC-I, adding that the measure was unprecedented and would give boost to the PM's green Pakistan initiative.
It is to mention here that the Federal government has already launched a nationwide 10-billion tree Tsunami project to improve the forest area in the country and the provincial government of KP has already extended scope of its widely acclaimed billion Tree Tsunami Project (BTTP) to achieve 10-billion tree plantation target.
