KP govt taking steps for abolition of environmental pollution: Urmar

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister for Environment, Mohammad Ishtiaq Urmar Friday said that as per vision of the Prime Minister Imran Khan effective steps are being taken for abolition of environmental pollution in the province on priority basis.

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Dec, 2018 ) :Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister for Environment, Mohammad Ishtiaq Urmar Friday said that as per vision of the Prime Minister Imran Khan effective steps are being taken for abolition of environmental pollution in the province on priority basis.

He said that trees will be planted in both plain and mountainous areas to provide pleasant environment to the people.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting regarding 100-day plan of the environmental department here in his office on Friday. Besides, Secretary Nazar Hussain Shah, Director General (DG) Pakistan Forest Institute (PFI), Hakeem Shah, DG EPA Dr.

Bashir Ahmad, Chief Conservator, Sadiq Khattak, Deputy Director, billion Tree Tsunami, Daud Khan, Conservator Wildlife, Mohsin Farooq, Director PFI, Dr. Ghulam Ali and DFO Mohammad Niaz given detailed briefing regarding their respective sectors.

The meeting was told that the department has fully participated in the clean and green programme announced by the Prime Minister Imran Khan and fulfilling their role in bringing pleasant in climatic changes and arresting of environmental pollution.

They also told that about initiating of effective steps for arresting of poisonous smoke and noise pollution from wedding halls, brick-kilns, petrol pump, CNG stations, car-wash, dairy and poultry farms, plastic bag factories, cement factories and etc.

For creation of awareness among the people about clean and green Pakistan, walks were not only arranged at tehsil and district levels, rather also planted saplings on highways and other suitable locations.

The minister was also told about stern action against timber mafia, which brought maximum increase in the revenue.

He said that for the wildlife they had not only provided conducive environment rather steps are also in progress for the prevention of the hunting of precious birds.

Addressing on the occasion, the provincial minister directed the concerned authorities are furtheracceleration of their activities and vowed to turn Forest Department into an effective organization.

He also pledged full encouragement of dutiful officers and employees.
