KP Politicians, Academicians Laud Joint Statement Of APC On Kashmir Issue

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 04th Oct, 2016 ) : Senior academicians, experts on International Relations and politicians of the mainstream political parties here on Tuesday lauded the joint statement of All Parties Conference (APC) against Indian unprovoked aggressions, human rights violations and brutalities in the Indian Occupied Kashmir and termed it reflections of aspirations of Pakistani nation and Kashmir people.
Dr Naushad Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor Islamia College University told APP the statement of APC was a very comprehensive and balanced in the prevailing situation besides reflecting the true sentiments and aspirations of people Pakistan and Kashmiris.
He said APC has strongly condemned India's threat to use water as a weapon and warned that any unilateral revocation of Indus Waters Treaty shall be taken as an act of aggression. "India could not cancel or revoke Indus Waters Treaty unilaterally and in case it attempted to do so would evoke strong response from Pakistan besides would be considered a serious violations of International laws and Indus Water Treaty obligations," Dr Naushed who served as Chairman at Islamia College Peshawar told APP.
"Pakistan and Kashmir are inseparable. Kashmir is an unfinished agenda of partition and right of self determination is the right of people of Kashmir as promised to them by the world body," he said, adding it was India which itself took the Jammu and Kashmir dispute to the UN Security Council that accepted it as an international dispute between two sovereign UN members.
Dr Naushad said religious-political leadership was very right to condemn the unprovoked Indian aggression, ceasefire violations besides rejecting Indian government's claims that Kashmir was an integral part of India.
"Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory and Indian held Jammu and Kashmir was never and can never be an integral part of India," he explained. He said right of the Kashmiri people to self-determination has been recognized by the UN Security Council and it was the responsibility of UNSC to implement it resolution in letter and spirit.
Prof Dr Hilali, Chairman Department of Political Science, University of Peshawar also termed the joint statement of APC on Kashmir issue was a very positive development and termed it very close to the official position of Pakistan on the issue of Kashmir.
He said APC declaration has given a very powerful message to the international community especially India that our political leadership irrespective of political affiliations and ideologies are united defence of the country.
He said APC took strong exception to stated intent by India to use water as a weapon against the people, not only of Pakistan but also of the region, in flagrant violation of its international treaty obligations.
He said our religio-political leadership has given strong message to India that any Indian attempt for unilateral revocation of Indus Waters Treaty shall be taken as an act of aggression. "India can't stop our water as Indus Water Treaty unilaterally as it enjoyed overwhelming support internationally and in case Modi Govt make any attempt for its unilateral revocation would be considered as an act of aggression and Pakistan has the right to react accordingly," he maintained.
Prof Hilali said Prime Muhammad Nawaz Sharif deserved full credit and appreciation for timely calling the APC meeting to evolve a joint response on Kashmir issue and situation on Line of Control.
He said the joint statement has passed a strong message to India that we all united to thwart anti nefarious designs of the enemy. He said the unprovoked Indian aggression and repeated ceasefire violations by India were a serious threat to regional peace and security and that Modi Government would be responsible of the whole situation if peace of the region was destabilize.
Dr Hilali said Independence Movement in Indian Occupied Kashmir has entered into decisive phase after the martyrdom of Burhan Wani Shaheed and time has come that International Community should pressurize India to give right of self determination to people of held Kashmir as promised to them by United Nations.
PML-N Parliamentary Leader in KP Assembly, Sardar Aurganziab Nalota also hailed the joint declaration of APC and termed it a very positive development. He said the situation in the Occupied Kashmir has been worsened very sharply following the death of Kashmir leader Burhan Wani Shaheed and urged UN to come forward and implement its resolutions.
The APC has strongly rejected the "ludicrous Indian claims" of carrying out 'surgical strike' across the LoC, as "blatantly false and brazen attempts at diverting international attention away from its atrocities and human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
He said Modi Government was suffering from war hysteria problem and has put the peace of entire region at stake, adding any surgical strike on Pakistan soil would prove disastrous for India. The PML-N leader urged the Indian leadership to respond positively to Pakistan's peace overtures as announced by the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif during his landmark address at United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) as it would benefit people of the entire region besides ending the long unrest prevailing in South Asia due to India's stubbornness and negative attitude.
