KPK Police Registers 572 Cases, Nabs 246 During Crackdown Against Power Theft

The crackdown against electricity theft and WAPDA recovery on the directives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Salahuddin Khan Mehsood is yielding positive result throughout the province
According to a press release issued here on Friday, Police has registered 572 cases under the relevant law against the violators found involved in Kunda culture, other kind of electricity theft and arrested 246 culprits charged in the FIRs in last 15 days.
In order to tighten noose around the neck of elements involved in use of WAPDA electricity through different illegal means, KPK police as per policy of the govt has launched a campaign against the violators.
In the campaign KPK police is going from door to door and registering cases against illegal users of electricity.
In this connection police during last 15 days registered 572 cases against electricity theft and took into custody 246 persons charged in these cases.
The police also took into possession 740 meter wire being used for illegal connection from WAPDA installations.
During WAPDA recovery campaign, Police also helped WAPDA in depositing of Rs. 54,19,343 in the national exchequers from the defaulters.
It merits to mention that police and WAPDA have started a joint campaign against the electricity theft. Different police teams have been constituted at each and every police station level which are conducting raids on daily basis in their respective jurisdiction and taking action against the "Kunda culture" andelectricity theft without any discrimination.
