Lahore High Court asks cinema owners to file replies to a petition regarding Indian Films till Nov 16

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday gave an opportunity to Cinema Owners Association and others for filing replies to a petition, challenging exhibition of Indian films in Pakistan, till Nov 16.

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Nov, 2018 ) :The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday gave an opportunity to Cinema Owners Association and others for filing replies to a petition, challenging exhibition of Indian films in Pakistan, till Nov 16.

Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi passed the orders on a petition, filed by film producer Sohail Ahmad Khan, who is a member of the Pakistan Film Producers' Association.

The Cinema Owners Association and others pleaded with the court to allow them to become party to the case.

They also sought permission to file a reply in the case, during the Tuesday's hearing.

At this, the court gave them an opportunity to file replies till Nov 16.

The petitioner had submitted that the release of Indian films in Pakistan had an adverse effect on the local film industry. He submitted that as per law, the screening of Indian films was banned in Pakistan.

However, despite the ban, the Indian films were being released illegally, he added.
