The Lahore High Court (LHC) Wednesday ordered for demolishing compounds built illegally in Mian Mir graveyard.
Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi passed the orders while hearing a petition against encroachment of the graveyard's land and a lack of action by the authorities concerned for the recovery of illegally occupied land.
Earlier, a legal advisor on behalf of Auqaf Department informed the court that Mian Mir Graveyard comprised 78 kanals land, whereas 130 illegal compounds had been built in it.
At this, the court expressed dismay and observed that under what law these compounds were built.
Which department gave the approval for the purpose, he added.
