Lahore High Court Orders Strict Action Against Underage Drivers

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday ordered for strict action against underage drivers.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Sep, 2018 ) :The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday ordered for strict action against underage drivers.
The court observed that no under age violater should be released without obtaining under taking from parents in the first phase. If the violation is observed again, parents of the child will be jailed because it is their responsibility, the judge remarked.
Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi passed the orders while hearing a petition filed by Abdullah Malik questioning rising traffic accidents.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Capt (retd) Liaqat Ali Malik appeared before the court on being summoned.
In response to a court query, the CTO informed that underage children drive cars, bikes and motorcycle rickshaw which was a major cause of accidents besides others.
At this, the court observed that underage drivers could not drive any vehicle as per law. Subsequently, the court ordered the CTO to take strict action against the violators.
The court also directed the CTO for submission of a report on daily basis in this regard while adjourning the further hearing.
