The Lahore High Court (LHC) Thursday sought a report from Punjab Wildlife Department regarding action taken against the violators involved in hunting of black bucks within five years
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th May, 2018 ) :The Lahore High Court (LHC) Thursday sought a report from Punjab Wildlife Department regarding action taken against the violators involved in hunting of black bucks within five years.
The court also directed the department to ensure implementation of ban on hunting of the said protected species. LHC Chief Justice Muhammad Yawar Ali passed these orders while hearing a petition filed by Ali Imran seeking directives for conservation of endangered black bucks.
As the proceedings began, the petitioner's counsel Shiraz Zaka argued that according to the Punjab Wildlife Preservation, Protection Wildlife Act, 1972, blackbuck was a protected species but the department was not serious to perform its obligations, besides questing the report submitted by the department earlier in connection with the case.
An Additional Advocate General Punjab on behalf of the Wildlife Department submitted that the black bucks were found in Cholistan and Bahawalpur areas and the department had already imposed a ban on its hunting.
He further apprised that the department had also taken action against the violators involved in hunting of the said species. At this, the court adjourning the further hearing till June 26 sought a report regarding action taken against violators.
