Lahore hotel gets license to sell alcohol

Royal International Hotel is the latest hotel to get alcohol license after 22 years

Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 14th March, 2019) Alcohol will now be available at a hotel built near the Lahore airport.

The sale of alcohol will begin next month after the Excise and Taxation Department Punjab had issued a license to the Royal International Hotel to sell alcohol in January this year.

Such a licence has been issued in Lahore after 22 years, media reports said.

The last licence to sell alcohol was given to Holiday Inn in 1997. The total number of Lahore hotels to sell alcohol will be five.

Media reports said that a number hotels and canteens had applied to get license to sell alcohol which were rejected by former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Royal International Hotel is the latest hotel to get alcohol license.

The license was issued to the hotel by Excise and Taxation DG Akram Ashraf Gondal following the approval of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

The Royal International Hotel is owned by Peer Baghai Shah who also runs parking stands and shops at several airports of the country.
