Lahore Master Plan Needs To Be Updated

A master plan of the provincial capital needs to be updated in view of the increasing population and expansion in limits of the city to cope with future challenges.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Oct, 2018 ) :A master plan of the provincial capital needs to be updated in view of the increasing population and expansion in limits of the city to cope with future challenges.
It was discussed in a meeting held at the National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) headquarter on Thursday. The meeting was participated by Managing Director NESPAK Dr Tahir Mahmood, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Amna Imran Khan, Chief Town Planner Syed Nadeem Akhter Zaidi, Chief Engineer LDA Mazhar Hussain Khan, Senior Legal Advisors of LDA Waqar A Sheikh and Salman Mansoor and offices concerned of LDA and TEPA.
The meeting was apprised that the current master plan of Lahore was approved in 2004 which was valid up to 2021. However, after expansion in LDA's limit to entire Lahore division in 2013 its scope had been extended to all the four districts.
Recommendations and proposals by the stakeholders would be welcomed for chalking out a viable master plan for the city.
The meeting was also informed that issues had been determined for updating the master plan. Managing Director NESPAK asked for collecting data for new master plan with the help of geographic information system (GIS). The LDA DG asked for seeking input from all the stakeholders.
Meanwhile, LDA constituted a committee comprising a 15-member for reviewing the existing master plan, identifying its shortcomings and putting forward recommendations for the new master plan.
NESPAK Town Planner principal Ahmed Masood would be the coordinator of this committee.
