HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th Nov, 2017 ) :The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat said conferences served as an excellent and most advantageous platform and source of generation, sharing, discussion and dissemination of knowledge.

The conference in session having highly important theme of language and literature assumed special significance within the social sciences framework as it would bring into focus highly sensitive issues like language policy, language and gender, language and politics, language imperialism, language hegemony, latest trends in world literature, he said and added that language and human identity, language and human emotions, language and human heritage, language and human culture, language and human history had, if not in entirety, yet largely been responsible for significant, critical and important events in history.

He congratulated Prof. Dr. Rafique Ahmed Memon, Director, Institute of English Language and Literature, Dr. Shumaila Memon, Secretary Conference and their entire team for putting together an excellent international moot for the first time.

The first Keynote speaker of the moot contributed study about English language in post colonial countries; with two questions, to look for most sought after skill in English (speaking, reading, writing).

She collected data from different post colonial countries including Bangladesh, India and Pakistan.

She came up with the result that speaking skill is badly needed in these countries. Despite this need, there is reluctance among students to speak it: why? And the reason she explored (from data by different post colonial countries) is lack of confidence to speak it.

The second keynote speaker of the event Naziha Ali Jafri of UAE and the former president of TESOL Arabia in her deliberations focused on sustainability of teacher development in English Language Teaching domain, emphasizing the need for English Language Teachers to subject themselves continuously to the task of self reflection, self-evaluation and self skepticism to continue growing as successful professionals.

We as teachers are classroom leaders, we have the power to influence our students. Hence, we must be the best, she urged, she urged and linked teacher development to receiving of constant and consistent feedback from learners who they engaged with, to tell them what worked and what did not really work and how.

The third conference Keynote Speaker Adam Barbiroch, Research Fellow, Perdeniya University Sri Lanka outlined the broad counters action research. The session concluded over exciting question-answer engagement between the audience and the speakers.
