Lawmakers discuss law and order situation in Balochistan Assembly

QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Sep, 2018 ) :correction Balochistan Home Minister Saleem Khosa on Tuesday said potential steps are being taken to revamp Levies force for restoring peace across the province to provide security to China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

Responding to a motion moved by MPA Nasrullah Zeray in the House on September 22 regarding law and order situation in the province, he said the situation of peace was being worsened in Balochistan through terrorist activities by foreigners. The session was chaired by Deputy Speaker Sardar Babar Musakhel.

Saleem Khosa said eight billion rupees were allocated for revamping of Levies force to ensure foolproof security at respective areas of the province along CPEC project. The Minister said around 1400 latest CCTV cameras would be installed under Quetta Safe Package which would help intensification of security system in the area.

MPA, Sikandar Advocate said all stakeholders should play their vital role to improve law and order situation and to raise issue of Occupied Kashmir at international level. He said the provincial government would take steps to ensure compensation to the relatives martyrs of Killa Saifullah and Pishin.

MPA, Asghar Ali Tareen said on a point of order that the incumbent government would focus on deployment of security force for restoring peace in the respective areas. He said there was 14 Levies tehsildars in Pishin but eight tesildars were not present in the area, saying that in this regard, the vacant post of Levies department would be filled on merit to ensure security.

MPA, Gohram Bughti said the Provincial Home Minister should ensure deployment of Levies force in respective areas.

He said some of the Levies personnel are reportedly not performing their duties in respective areas.

Opposition Leader, Sana Baloch said peace was linked with politics, social life and education. "Justice is important for all communities and without justice peace can not be ensured in the province", he added. He said the province government should pay attention on provision of education as knowledge is source of peaceful environment.

Sana Baloch said trauma center would be established at district levels, saying that new doctors would be appointed in respective hospitals to overcome the shortage of doctors in districts. He also mentioned that 66 percent of children were deprived from food, despite thousands of children were out of schools in the province. He said steps would be taken to address such serious issues for the betterment of the people.

Akhtar Hussain said measures could be taken to enhance border security in order to control terrorist activities, saying that there was no data entry of Afghan people at Chaman border so that the entry list of Afghan people should ensure at same border for the interest of the province.

MPAs Abdul Khaliq Hazar and Danish Kumar condemned the incident of Killa Saifullah and Pishin and asked for necessary security measures.

Home Minister Saleem Khosa said a policy would be made for ensuring compensation to martyrs' relative in proper way. He said law and order situation was improved as compare to four years ago. He appreciated law enforcement agencies for maintaining peace during Muharram-ul Haram in the province.

The session was adjourned till September 28 for debating PSDP.
