Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 15th October, 2018) The Lahore High Court (LHC) has approved the pre-arrest bail petition of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former Railways Minister Khawaja Saaed Rafique.
The pre-arrest bail has been approved till Oct 24.
A two-member LHC bench, headed by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, held the hearing and approved Khawaja Saad and Khawaja Salman Rafique’s pre-arrest bail petition against a surety bond of Rs 5 lac each.
Accepting the pre-arrest bail, the LHC has barred the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from arresting the two brothers.
The court has also issued a notice to NAB sought a reply in the case.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) had earlier rejected the petition of Khawaja Saad Rafique seeking protective bail in view of arrest threat by NAB in a private housing society scam.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has been probing Rafique in connection with an inquiry into a private housing scheme scam. The PML-N leader has also been summoned by the anti-graft body several times for questioning in the case.
In his plea, Saad Rafique had stated that he was never a director or shareholder of the Paragon Housing Scheme. He prayed the court to direct the bureau not to arrest him for two weeks.
Meanwhile, Khawaja Saad Rafique has won NA-131 by-election by securing 60,476 votes against Hamayun Akhtar Khan of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) who secured 50,444 votes.
