LHC Issues Notices To Railway Over Royal Palm Golf, Country Club Occupation

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th August, 2016) : The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday issued notices to Railway officials for September 1 on a plea seeking directions for registration of a case against them over alleged occupation of Royal Palm Golf and Country Club by the Railways administration. Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza issued notices on a petition, filed by Ramzan Sheikh, Chairman Mainland Husnain Pakistan Ltd (MHPL), impleading Secretary Railways Parveen Agha, Inspector General of Police Railways Munir Chishti and including Railways Minister etc. During the hearing, the petitioner's counsel Aitzaz Ahsan submitted that the Railway administration illegally occupied the club on June 26 despite restraining orders of a civil court in a suit regarding an agreement between the railways and the MHPL.

He said that the petitioner moved an application for registration of a case against the respondents with Mughalpura police but it did not take any action. He said that the petitioner approached the justice of peace for registration of case but the court dismissed his request. He pleaded with the court to set aside the court verdict and issue directions for registration of a case against the respondents. At this, the court issued notices to the respondents for September 1 and sought reply. Earlier, Justice Aalia Neelum excused herself from hearing the petition and referred the matter to the LHC chief justice with a request to fix the matter before another bench comprising Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza who was hearing the connected matter.
