LHC Restrains Daska MC Chairman From Work, Seeks Reply

LAHORE, Jan 2 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 02nd Jan, 2017 ) : The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday stopped Chairman Municipal Committee Daska Khawaja Atif Raza from work. Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi passed the orders on a petition, filed by a voter, Shahzad Khan, seeking directions for disqualification of the respondent chairman.
The court also sought reply from the Election Commission and the chairman till January 12.
During the hearing, the petitioner's counsel submitted that the respondent chairman was a bank defaulter and a Rs 11.7 million decree had been issued against him.
However, the chairman did not mention about the loan default in his nomination papers, he added. He contended that the chairman had violated Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution by hiding details of his loan default. He pleaded with the court to disqualify the respondent. At this, the court stopped the respondent chairman from work and sought reply the commission till January 12.
