Limit Use Of Social Media In Night To Avoid Sleep Problem: Experts

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2018 ) :Medical experts urged youngsters to limit excessive use of smart phones and social media to avoid sleep problems which cause headache and depression.
As much as we depend on social media and mobile devices for viewing and responding to emails, checking the weather, reading headline news, and posting status updates on Facebook, our smart phones may be causing us some vision problems.
Social media users to limit the excessive usage of Smartphone as it cause sleeping problems and damage eye sight in the long term because we spend so many hours staring at screens everyday. Health Expert Dr Sharaif Astori said, insight into social media's possible role in undermining sleep and health in young people.
The explosion of social media and people staying on devices for longer � and taking them to bed with them � is a huge problem that effects include formation of a red eye, lack of concentration and sleep, body ache, change in psychological attitude, etc.
He suggest to Put electronic devices in another room and If you must sleep with a phone in your room turn off notifications.
Use the do not disturb function on your phone so urgent calls can come through but no noisy notifications.
Have a technology-free period before bed and read an actual book, he added. Dr Amnah Ahmed said, The numbers of cases are increasing and more youngsters are coming to us with the problem of headache and depression cause by lack of sleep.
The more time they used the apps and sites, the less sleep they got. Youngsters are advised to spend less time on social media, "They should wear protective glasses, reduce brightness of the electronic devices, avoid small screen phones, to switch off smart phones two hours before going to bed and to keep the fonts big to avoid strain on the eyes," she added.
She suggested to blink eyes again and again, Minimize glare, take breaks while using smart phones, Adjust your brightness, Tweak your text size and contrast,� Keep a clean screen. Hold your smart phone farther away for some time.
