Man Awarded Six Month Jail For Shooting Markhor In Hunza

Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 16th January, 2018) A hunter has been awarded six-month sentence for hunting Markhor.
According to details, a Markhor was killed by falling in the river after he was hunted down illegally by the man.
The hunter has been sentenced six months in jail and fined Rs 1.25 lac. The rifle of the hunter has also been confiscated.
The Forests Department said that the hunter has been punished for illegally hunting the rare specie animal.
Hunza assistant commissioner had earlier imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the hunter.
The Forest Department said that an additional fine of Rs 10,5000 has been imposed on the hunter.
If he fails to pay the fine, he will be jailed for six months.
The Markhor is a rare and endanger specie of the area.
The government allows legal hunting only in buffer areas in surrounding of Chitral goal national park for hunting of aged, ailing and weak Markhors who are already dying it will be best for public and government both.
The man fired a Markhor for hunting in Chitral Goal National Park, which was totally illicit hunting, the staff of wildlife was tried to catch the Markhor, but unfortunately wounded Markhor fell down into the river and died.
The government takes stern action against violators and imposes heavy fine on the Markhor hunters.
