Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 26th September, 2018) An interesting dialogue took place between Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar and Bahria Town chairman Malik Riaz in the hearing of Margalla Hills deforestation case on Wednesday.
The CJP in his remarks said that Bahria Enclave has occupied most of the government land Islamabad. Houses for people have already been constructed on the government land.
The CJP further said, “I’ve heard Bahria Town Islamabad has also undergone some boundary limitations.”
Additional Attorney General contended that Bahria Town’s office is also built on the land of National Park.
To this, the CJP addressed the Bahria Town chairman and asked, “Malik Riaz, do you have Rs 1000 billion?” Malik Riaz replied that he does not even have a hundred billion.
The CJP said that Malik Riaz would have to pay for the encroachment in the city.
“Who has the money if Malik Riaz doesn’t? He has the money of all of Pakistan,” the CJP added.
Malik Riaz said that the money he has is earned through fair means, to which, the CJP asked, “Who said this is illegal money?”
The CJP directed the Bahria Town chairman to arrange Rs 1000 billion till the next hearing.
Malik Riaz said that even the US would not have this much money and requested the court to grant him 20 minutes.
To this, the CJP said that we will listen to you for 20 minutes on Oct 1.
