ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Oct, 2018 ) :The first Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan who was mysteriously assassinated by a mercenary sank into oblivion as no official or public commemoration was held for the death anniversary of 'Martyr of the Nation'.
"Liaquat Ali Khan was the only leader in the history of the country who sacrificed his everything for the country. He was wearing a tattered vest under his clothes when he died praying 'May God save Pakistan' but how cold our nation's attitude is on his death anniversary that no one bothered to pay him tribute or pray Fateha for his departed soul," said Abdullah Hameed Gul, Chairman Tehreek Jawanan Pakistan (TJP) while talking to APP here Wednesday.
He expressed his remorse over public's negligence over the issue and said he gave up not only his life rather every precious thing for the country but no one bothers.
The former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was also martyred at the same place people especially lit up candles, shed tears and pray Fateha for her departed soul and this should be done as living nations never forget their leaders, he said.
"But people forget Liaquat Ali Khan was quite embarrassing as he was not an ordinary politician rather one of the founding leaders of the country," he lamented.
He said it was only him who remembered Shaheed i Millat on his death anniversary. He urged the youth to revisit their history and recognize the pioneers of Pakistan Movement who preferred national interest over personal interest.
"The founders of Pakistan gave everything to the motherland and did not save a penny for themselves. Quaid-e-Azam left Rs 800 million worth property for the country and Liaquat Ali Khan gave his entire property and even life to the nation. Where are their families today and is their any of their family members present in the parliament or any where in the country to claim their right on this country so the nation should realize their sacrifices for the nation," Abdullah remarked.
