Mashal Khan’s Father Express Satisfaction Over ATC Verdict

The father thanked the court for the verdict, adding that he is satisfied with the judgment.
Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 21st March, 2019) Mashal Khan’s father, Iqbal Khan, has expressed his satisfaction over the verdict of Peshawar Anti-Terrorism Court in his son’s lynching case.
The father thanked the court for the verdict, adding that he is satisfied with the judgment. He said that justice from courts give peace to the victims.
However, he expressed his reservation over the release of two accused. He said that he will challenge their release in the high court after consultation with his lawyer.
Iqbal Khan said that he is grateful to the ATC judge for the verdict.
He said that the ruling will bring glory to Pakistan. He said that justice has heartened the oppressed.
An Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday sentenced two men to life imprisonment in Mashal Khan murder case.
Arif Khan,Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) councillor, and Asad Katlang was convicted after being proven guilty in the 2017 murder of a Abdul Wali Khan University student in Mardan.
The ATC in its judgement that reserved on March 12 acquitted two suspects Sabir Mayar and Izhar Joni for lack of evidence.
The convict were involved in the lynching of Mashal Khan after accusing him of blasphemy. The brutal murder had sparked countrywide outrage.
In January an ATC judge in Abbottaad had convicted six people in the case, handing down death sentence to one convict while life imprisonment to five others. Judge Fazal Subhan had acquitted 26 other suspects nominated in the case.
