Mayor Of Karachi Seeks Cooperation Of Traders To Remove Encroachments

Mayor of Karachi, Wasim Akhtar said that the traders community should cooperate in the removal of encroachments established in front of markets and shopping plazas so that joint efforts be made against encroachers.
He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of Aram Bagh Market Association Ittehad who called on him in his office in KMC Building, said a statement on Thursday.
The Mayor Karachi said that KMC was considering establishing hawkers zone on its empty land to provide space for respectable business to owners of pushcarts owners and patharas.
The delegation was comprised of representatives of Jama Cloth Market, Allahwala Market, urdu Bazar Association and other business associations.
They said that the business and trade community in Karachi was with the KMC in its ongoing campaign against encroachments and have decided that we will themselves remove the sun-sheds and other encroachments to avoid any loss.
The Mayor Karachi said the staff concerned was directed not to touch the boards exceeding 12 inches and only remove the shops and sun-sheds which are on footpaths.
He said that they want the trader's community to join hands with KMC in its beautification works for the city.
He thanked the traders on their starting of removal of sun-sheds fromtheir shops and clearing the footpaths.
