RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Oct, 2018 ) :Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantonment Boards will launch special grand anti-encroachment operation on Monday as final notices on the directives of Lahore High Court were issued to the encroachers to remove the encroachments on their own otherwise strict action in accordance with the law would be taken.
Talking to APP, RCB Spokesman Qasir Mahmood informed that the board on the directives of Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench issued notices to the shopkeepers not to violate rules and remove encroachments on their own within three days.
Grand anti-encroachment operation would be launched and strict action would be taken against the rules violators.
The goods of the encroachers would be confiscated besides imposing heavy fines on them.
No relaxation would be given to anyone, he added.
He said, the shopkeepers had been directed to place their goods inside shops as no one would be allowed to encroach the footpath, open place, road, street and others outside the shutters of the shops.
The shopkeepers have also been instructed to remove handcarts and counters if any from front of their shops.
He informed that the arrangements on the directives of Cantonment Executive Officer Sibtain Raza were being finalised to launch grand anti-encroachment operation.
All commercial areas including Saddar bazaar, Tench Bhatta, Chor Chowk and other areas of RCB would be cleared and all-out efforts would be made to make the areas encroachments free, he added.
Chaklala Cantonment Board is finalizing arrangements to launch grand anti-encroachment operation, said the CCB spokesman.
MCR will also launch grand anti-encroachment operation to clear all commercial areas including Raja Bazar, Bara Bazar, Commercial Market, Murree Road, Circular Road, Sadiqabad, Kuri Road and other areas.
Justice Ibadur Rehman of Lahore High Court during hearing of a case on Friday (Oct 12) directed Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Dr. Umer Jahangir, Police, MCR, Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantonment Boards to clear encroachments in one week as the District administration and City Traffic Police had failed to resolve the traffic issues of Rawalpindi city despite the court orders for removal of encroachments and eradication of illegal parking from the city to ensure smooth flow of traffic on city roads.Due to the encroachments and illegal car parking in every nook and corner of the town particularly main commercial areas, the traffic of the city has became a nightmare for the motorists as the traffic jam in various parts of the city is a routine matter.Despite orders of the LHC and the city's visit of Justice Ibadur Rehman Lodhi, encroachments could not be removed as encrochers still rule almost all markets of the town.
Justice Ibadur Rehman during his surprise visit conducted on February 3 this year to check anti-encrochment operations had directed the administration to clear all encroachments from city markets and take action in accordance with the law against encroachers to provide relief to the citizens, but, the situation could not be changed and encroachments are still there.
It is pertinent to mention here that earlier, Justice Ibadur Rehman Lodhi had alsoordered the city district government high-ups in Aug 2016 to implement the court'sorders regarding removal of encroachments from main roads and markets.
