MCR collects Rs one bln tax

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Sep, 2021 ) :The Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) has collected around Rs one billion on account of various municipal services taxes during the three months of the current fiscal year.

Chief Officer MCR Ali Abass Bokhari while talking to APP said that taxes were collected on account of transfer and registration of property, bus terminals fees including wagon and Suzuki stands, car parking fee, rent of the shops in various MCR areas, entry fees for public parks, slaughter fees, encroachment fine, latrines fee and others.

He said MCR had also launched an anti-encroachment operation to make the city free from encroachments.

Ali said the city had been divided into six sectors where each sector-in charge would be responsible if there was any encroachment.

In the first phase, he said the Benazir Bhutto Road has been made a model artery by purging it of all kinds of encroachments. All stakeholders including local parliamentarians and traders were being taken on board to make the drive result-oriented. "No political pressure will be borne in this regard," he added.

The CO informed that Rs 120 million would be spent on the restoration of the historical building of Haveli Sujan Singh in Bhabra Bazaar while seven gurdwaras and temples around it would also be renovated aimed at promoting tourism in the garrison city.

Ali informed that MCR was planning for setting up an Interfaith Harmony Wall adjacent to Gorden college Church to create religious harmony./395
